Curious topic, Chandrayan!
Very interested in it for a long time.
I have a few questions and thoughts:
1. What are your thoughts on fair use and transformative use in the context of AI-generated covers?
2. Copyrights are essentially a limited-time monopoly granted to creators, similar to patents, to allow them to recoup their investments (time, skill, money) in creating their works. This system aims to balance rewarding creators and benefiting society. Without this balance, copyrights lose their meaning, right? Aka its copyright is not right to deny value for society, its right to get reward for sharing that value. How far is too far? Is there value for civilisation lost here?
3. What about consent mechanisms like Creative Commons licenses or public domain dedications? How do these fit into the AI-generated content discussion?
4. How should we handle long-deceased artists whose works have been in the public domain for over 60 years?
I'm particularly curious about where we draw the line between personal expression and skill. For example, human singing styles seem more personal than instrumental styles like a violinist's. Why do we protect one but not the other?
Do you have any thoughts on this? Is this about impersonation for you? Is it okey for human impersonators as a joke to make "Let's imagine singer A was still alive and joined group B to sing song C"
Humans are doing that for some time. Should we prohibit that too? Or just AIs are prohibited? Why?
